Model 206 Drum Carder

The Clemes & Clemes  8” fine tooth drum carder has been the standard of the industry since it was introduced in 1978. Professional spinners, schools, guilds, and hobbyists have long sought the quality of carding that is possible with this carding machine.

The oak frame has an attractive shape with smooth rounded edges and lacquer finish for years of durable service. The wooden tray allows easy feeding of the fibers. The carders are completely assembled and ready to use right out of the box.

The card clothing is available in fine tooth and coarse tooth. Most spinners require fine teeth on their carders. Almost any type of fiber can be carded with our fine tooth carder. We recommend coarse teeth on a carder only when carding a coarser fiber and a rougher texture is desired.

Adjustment between the carding drums is achieved by the use of eccentric
bearings on the smaller drum shaft. A very accurate adjustment is possible
using this method. It is this fine adjustment that makes it possible with our fine
toothed carder to card a variety of fibers successfully without changing drums
or making any adjustments to the carder. From cotton to all types of wool,
mohair, and alpaca this carder just keeps on carding. The carding drums are
adjusted at the factory and rarely ever need adjustment.

The urethane drive belt, with figure 8, provides the smoothest, most
reliable carding action possible. The belt has a long life, usually exceeding
10 years. Replacement belts are available and are easily changed without
making any adjustments to the carder.
